18 Year Old Male Severe Scoliosis

Patient Profile

Age: 18
Condition:  Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis
Symptoms:  Low back pain rating of 5/10 on the VAS
Goal:  Curve reduction and stabilization, restore alignment, improve back pain

 The Challenge

At 18 years of age and based on the Risser score he has reached skeletal maturation.  He has a significant truncal shift and marked   rotation.  He has a severe C-curve scoliosis.

The Solution: Total Scoliosis Solution (TSS) Program

He enrolled in our TSS Program, where we designed a personalized treatment plan focused on:

Postural realignment to the center of the gravity line to increase stability and minimize risk factors of scoliosis progression

Curve reduction and stabilization

Targeted exercises to improve muscle balance and to help reduce pain

Scoliosis-specific exercises and home rehab program to continue to work on his scoliosis for life independently

 The Results

After the completion of his initial program, there was a marked improvement in his alignment and muscle balance.  Follow-up x-rays   showed a 29% reduction which the specialist attributed to ‘spontaneous and coincidence’.  He did not require surgery post   treatment.
